Participle phrases
A participle phrase at the beginning of a sentence requires a comma to separate it from the rest of the sentence.
*A participle is a verb in past or present tense. The present tense ends in "ing."
Examples:
Washing my hands, I spilled water.
Clogged with dog hair, the pipe did not work.
Eating my donut, I needed milk.
