An earthquake happens when two plates slip past each other. Where this phenomena occurs is called a fault. The point directly above the earthquake is called the epicenter. The epicenter is where the earthquake starts. The force that causes earthquakes is the ever moving tectonic plates.
Earthquakes effect everything. It can ruin or even end peoples' lives. Today's scientists are trying to find ways of predicting this dangerous event. Earthquakes can ruin building foundations, causing them to crumble like a cookie which you put too much flour in.
Earthquakes can happen at any boundary.
