The Saptadi is a ritual in which 7 vows are promised between the bride and groom. The Saptadi is performed around the sacred fire during the Mandap ceremony. The bride and groom take 7 steps around the fire for each of the 7 vows. The 7 vows are nourishment, strength, prosperity, happiness, progeny, long life and harmony, and understanding.
