Symptoms for untreated PKU may include:
-Permanent intellectual disabiltys
-Seizures
-Delayed development, and more
As the babys start to grow older they may devolp
-Lighter skin and most likely skin disorders
-A musty body odor due to an excess of phenylalanine in the body

PKU can be found in about every 1 in 15,000 making this disease somewhat rare

People from ALL ethnicities are prone to get it however it is common in people that are Native Americans and Northern-Europeans

Treatment for PKU includes
-Going for screening every 1 to 2 month(s)
-Having special diets and protein formulas

Prognosis: A person living with PKU can live a full lifetime as long as they say consistent with their treatment
