Respiratory epithelium is the tissue lining your nose, mouth and trachea. It is a barrier between the air coming into your body and lungs and cleans the air.

This is important because it cleans the air inhaled by the body before it reaches the lungs.

The cilia gets damaged when you smoke, and stops functioning, then the smoke gets into your lungs and can cause cancer.
