Sir Francis Bacon was born on January 22, 1561 in London, England. His father was the Keeper of the Seal, his mother was the daughter of King Edward VI's tutor, and he had one older brother, Anthony. In his early life he was sent to study at Trinity College, at Cambridge, at age eleven.

As a teen he enrolled into the high class organization of Grays Inn, where he studied Aristotle, Plato, and the Renaissance. He also spent time with the British ambassador to France.

In 1581 he became Cornwall's Parliamentary representative in the House of Commons. He retained this post in parliament until 1617. In 1616 he was appointed Keeper of the Seal, and in 1618 he rose to the top as Lord Chancellor of England.

During this time he made several achievements in writing, and science. In the scientific field he published one book, and began the prototype for the modern scientific method. In literature he wrote multiple political essays, Scientific books and a memorandum. He wrote one book 'The Wisdom of the Ancients' about mythology, as well as 'The Atlantis, and Apothegms'.

In the year 1626 he began experiments with ice to further meat preservation. The older Sir Francis received a chill from this experiments, and was quickly hospitalized in Lord Arundel's London home. However the room conditions were cold, and musty. Before long he developed bronchitis, and he died April 9, 1626 at the age 65.
