The Lottery-Summary
The Lottery is about tradition. Every year the entire town gets together to draw names from an old black box. Apparently, most of the villages and towns in that area participate within their own settlements. As the story progresses, people go from being talkative and happy while gathered to be a part of the lottery, to nervous and tense.
All the men draw one slip of paper from the black box that contains the surname of one of the families in town. Once everyone draws, the slips of paper are opened; the surname that was drawn the most out of the men will have to draw again, everyone this time, to choose somebody to randomly kill via stoning.
