Drying the Precipitate

Generally solids are dried at about 120 degrees but the conditions for drying can vary considerably. To determine the correct during regime a thermal gravimetric balance can be used. After drying the solid is removed from the oven and placed in a desiccator to cool before weighing . This procedure can be repeated until a constant weight is obtained. It is called heating to a constant mass.
