The Wilderness/Forest

The moors from Wuthering Heights are similar to the wilderness in the Scarlet Letter, because they both give the characters a feeling of safety and peace; a place where they can be themselves.
“Deeper it goes, and deeper into the wilderness, less plainly to be seen at every step; until some few miles hence the yellow leaves will show no vestige of the white man's tread. There thou art free!”
