Advantages of Ultraviolet Spectroscopy
1) Has a wide applicability, enormous number of inorganic , organic and biochemical species absorb in UV which enables them to be quantitively determined
2) Very high sensitivity and detection limits concentrations of up to 10-6 M can be determined
3)Moderate to high selectivity. This is because wavelengths can be found at which a particular analyte alone absorbs. This eliminates any preliminary separations.
Good to high accuracy. the relative errors in conc determinations encountered with a typical instrument lie in the range 1-5%
4)Ease and convenience .This technique is easily and rapidly performed with modern instruments
5)This is a NDT and samples can be used for other analyses. This is important in forensics.
