Surrealism is a cultural movement that began in the early 1920s, and is best known for its visual artworks and writings. The aim was to resolve the previously contradictory conditions of dream and reality. It was an artistic movement that attempted to express the workings of the subconscious and is characterized by fantastic imagery. World War One ended in 1918 during the movement. Surrealists, like Salvador DalĂ, began creating Surrealist films in 1923. World War Two ended during the movement in 1945.
