The Watt steam engine replaced the Newcomen steam engine. Upon the creation of the Watt steam engine it was a large contribution to the Industrial Revolution. Before this invention the only power generators were man, animal, or water powered. The Watt steam engine provided society with power for multiple things, but the most we'll know is the train. It was better because of the separate condenser and rotary motor.
