Modern Japanese Homes

Modern Japanese homes often come with a kitchen containing a stove, fridge and fish broiler. The toilet, and bathtub/ shower were usually in separate rooms and the sink is either on top of the toilet or in the same room as a washing machine for clothing. Usually modern homes contain one traditional room with a fusuma door and tatami flooring.

Culture affects Japanese housing by the rooms in the homes, for example space made by the entrance to remove shoes before entering the home and separated bathrooms for hygienic purposes.

Location Affects housing by "Danchi" or apartments are in cities and homes outside of cities. Most homes in Japan are torn down and rebuilt with a lifespan of 20 years for Wooden buildings and 30 years for concrete.
