Basics of Hindu Faith
• Life, including that of the universe, is a cycle involving multiple lives and multiple deaths through reincarnation until the person achieves moksha with good karma and leaves the cycle.
• Dharma = righteous living.
• The Vedas, oldest scripture text, contains divinity.
- They are the foundation of Hinduism.
• Hindus believe that there are physical, astral, and causal worlds.
• They believe that the gods live in unseen worlds that worship, sacraments, and personal devotions create connections to the gods.
• A guru, spiritually awakened master, is believed to be needed to understand the Transcendent Absolute, as well as to have good behavior and discipline, meditation, reflection, purification and pilgramage.
• Practice ahimsa, or "non-injury."
• They believe that their is more than one way to reach the total understanding of things and accept other religious points of view.
