Cortes was recognized as a god by Moctezuma II. Cortes resembled a god that was said to return some day.

Spanish "explorers" arrived in the Americas in the 1400's. Cortes landed in Mexico looking for Gold.

MOCTEZUMA II

THE RESULT

Moctezuma II gave Cortes gifts, such as gold. Cortes took him prisoner after he marched into Tenochtitlan.

Moctezuma II was killed in battle between Spanish and Indian forces.
