- Married freed African American John Tubman in 1844 and took his last name
- She made 19 trips to the south and freed over 300 slaves from freedom
- One journey included the rescue of her 70-year-old parents
- Worked as a nurse, cook, and spy for the Union during the Civil War
- Died in 1913 in New York
