It was first invited in Bury Lancashire and first used just north of Burry.

It replaced regular needles. It also made it easier for people so didn't have to do it all by hand.

It had many advantages, such as it would produce much wider cloth at faster speeds than before, such as with your hands it would take ten times longer.

The impact that is has today is that it made manual labor easier and opened a mind for things to get done faster and easier
