Frida was in a horrible accident that broke her spinal column, collarbone, ribs, pelvis, several fractures in her right leg, dislocated and crushed her right foot and dislocated her shoulder

Because of the accident, she was bed-ridden months, which was the start of her self-portraits

She is ashes are buried in La Casa Azul, which is also where she grew u

Many of her paintings include monkeys as a symbol of tender and protection


She created 143 paintings and 55 of them are self-portraits

Today, her paintings go for more money than any other female artist
