Working conditions as a chemical engineer

Chemical engineers work mostly in offices or laboratories. They may spend time at industrial plants, refineries, and other locations, where they monitor or direct operations or solve onsite problems. Nearly all chemical engineers work full time. Many chemical engineers split their time between being on site with the equipment they are supervising and working in the traditional white-collar environment at a desk, on the phone, writing reports, and attending meetings. There work in a laboratory, office, or a manufacturing plant.
