Persephone is abducted by Hates. Persephone's mother, Demeter, searched and searched for her daughter Zeus ,Persephone's father, knew that Hades had Persephone and did non tell Demeter. Hates made Persephone eat a seed of a pomegranate from the underworld. Demeter got hermes to bring her beloved daughter back but, Persephone had already been cursed and had to return to the underworld 1/3 of every year. Due to Demeters sadness there is no harvest when persephone is gone. That is what we know as winter. When persephone returns from the underworld there is harvest. In the beginning it is sping then summer.
