Imagine if you didn't know what was in the water you were drinking. We all can conclude that the water we drink comes from the lake. Without limnology, who's to say that there is a very poisonous chemical in the lake that can not be filtered and we all get sick? Luckily limnologist test the water to make sure that everything is the way it should be.

Not only is it important we keep the lakes and rivers clean for drinking purposes, but as well as for ecological purposes like all of the life that the lakes and rivers support. We could be killing them on accident but luckily we make sure that it is a safe habitat for the fish and other animals.
