Influential- Atticus impacts and enlightens other characters in the book not only with law, but with his surprising talent. Scout says "I thought my father, who hated guns and had never been to any wars, was the bravest man who ever lived" (Lee 134). Him being a lawyer, is what many people want to be and his humble attitude inspires people to be like him.
Courageous- People look down on Atticus for defending Tom Robinson, however Atticus continues to defend him. He wanted his children "to see what real courage is, instead of the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand" (Lee 112) He is very understanding of other people and despite what others say, he perseveres with an open mind.
