Sam Rayburn

•Started as a school teacher then became a lawyer. Was a member of the Democratic Party.
•Elected in congress where he represented the fourth Texas district. First term was appointed to the house committee on interstate and foreign commerce and remained a member for 25 years. Was a garners campaign manager, chairman of the interstate and foreign commerce committee, joined forces with George Norris
• He sent money back to his districts in Texas and was a great speaker
•Honesty- he was true in everything he said and did
