Rural life in Texas
In 1846-60 the number of texans living on farms grew about 31,000 people. Lots of people came to Texas to farm on inexpensive Texan soil. The majority of farmers growed crops and raised animals on the farm. Crops such as sugar cane, wheat, oats and potatoes were popular. Farmers raised animals such as milk cows, hogs, chickens, and sometimes sheep for wool.
