This allows Louis Armstrong to be more experienced and play with more bands and become more well known locally.

The Hot Five was the first band Louis Armstrong had formed which consisted of five people which is why why two new members joined the five became seven

1918

1922

1925

1929

Joe "King Oliver" Oliver leaves Armstrong in Chicago

Armstrong recorded the first song under his own name

Both white and black audiences enjoyed Armstrong's music

This was a breakthrough since it was his name and not a band name which helped Armstrong as an individual to become better know worldwide

Since Louis Armstrong was African-American it was a huge deal at the time that white people enjoyed his music as much as African-Americans

Started "The Hot Five" later to become "The Hot Seven"
