Salary, Growth Opportunities, and More

Salaries of a singer are mainly based on popularity. For example, more people like Jane Doe's music than John Doe's music. More people will invest in Jane's CD than John's. Jane will get more money. That is my point of view on a singer's salary but here the average wages a singer gets.

Avg. annual wage: $66,435
Avg. hourly wage: $31.94

Those who succeed as a singer are more likely to grow more popular. Those who let pressure get to them often quit because of the stress they feel. You have to be focused as a singer or else, you'll fail. There are not exactly "growth opportunities" in singing and music because you are practically, or actually, self employed and you have both the lowest position and the highest position. This is since there is only one position in singing and music. When it comes to this job, the only things I would consider as "growth", are success and world fame.

Outlook: stable- +10.1% est. for 2010-2020

Job openings: small- avg. 6070 annual openings est. for 2010-2020

Employment: medium- 176,300 in 2010

Growth: many left*- vast exceeded

Self employment: 2010- 42.7%

Industries: •self employed, primary, secondary •religious •performing arts companies
