Born in Winchester, New Hampshire on October 9, 1860

Died of a brain tumor in Boston, Massachusetts on August 7, 1927 and is buried at Arlington National cemetery

He married Louise A. Condit Smith, of Washington, on November 18, 1890

Had 3 children 2 boys, and 1 girl

Chief of Staff of the United States Army, Military Governor of Cuba, and Governor General of the Philippines.

Interesting facts: He received the Medal of Honor early in his military years and Wood led his college football team to its first ever football victory, 28 to 6, over the University of Georgia.
