The Procedure

We obtained 1.00g of aluminum, and added 15mL of 6M KOH in a 250mL beaker. We heated it until the aluminum started to react, it later became a black liquid. We then filtered out all the aluminum extract into a funnel. The liquid that dripped out was clear, and the filter paper was left black and gooey with the left over substance. We added 35mL of 6M of sulfuric acid to the liquid and heated it. We left the substance rest over night and it turned into crystals. The next day we vacuumed out the crystals using water. Then, we transferred the crystals to a glass flask, weighed them, and then finally put them in the oven.
