President Houston

Sam Houston was the first president of Texas and the only president to serve two terms. He wanted the best for Texas including joining the U.S. and avoiding war with Mexico. During his presidency he had a small military of 400 men because he was in debt by one million dollars causing him to limit government spendings. He sympathized Indians, unlike Lamar, agreeing to make a peace treaty and give them land titles. He made the capital of Texas Houston which wasn't central, many people disliked the decision of the capital but had no say in it. After his first term of being president Lamar was elected.
