I envision the narrator is speaking about being a mom
The poems theme is about being a mother an the things you could go thought.the poem makes me feel like a mother.

The lines I took from the poem was I knew I was a mom when darkness took you away saying with out a word I'll live my life my way. These lines relates to the poem because the poem is about a girl being a mom and her taking care of the kid and the kid grows up and turns to the mom an say I'll live my life my way.
