The importance of a secure First Law cannot be stressed enough, as it is crucial to keeping robots from becoming 'too autonomous'. In one instance, a robot's circuitry was altered to present for a lack of care towards human life, and later went rouge, almost throwing the entire station into jeopardy.

In order to restore order Dr. Calvin, Major-General Kellner, and Gerald Black managed to trick the robot out of hiding by releasing infrared radiation into the area, while harmless is radiation, and would bring the robot out of hiding for just enough time to secure it.
