Battle of Taraori
The First Battle
-Muhammad intended to conquer as much of northern India as possible
Battle began in 1190:
-Muhammad captured the town of Bhatinda
-The Rajput king, Prthviraja III immediately responded with a defending army of Rajputs
-Muhammad used cavalry to defeat the Rajputs, but the Rajputs stood firm and flanked the Muslims
-The Rajputs (Hindus) had the upper hand and they outnumbered the Muslim army; caused the Muslims to suffer and have to retreat
-Rajputs finally recaptured Bhatinda after about a year
