Babe Ruth was really the introduction of the power hitter. In a game of just trying to get to base, he was a revolutionary. He hit 714 home runs in his career, was not broken until Hank Aron hit his 715th home run on April 8, 1974. There is an entire room devoted to Babe Ruth in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. He was the original power hitter.
