Background Research

Our topic is, how does wavelength effect plant growth? Through our research we learned that different wavelengths effect plants differently. In the article "Requirements for Plant Growth," the topic of the importance of light is explained. Some plants prefer full sun other prefer shade, partial shade,or shade in the afternoon to keep from burning foliage.
The article," How Does Light Color Effect Plant Growth," discusses how light can change a plant's behavior. Our research taught us that the shorter the wavelength the more energy the pigment contains. Plants respond differently to different colors of light. Based on our research we did, we learned that blue light and red light are most efficient for photosynthesis.
