• White wedding dresses were not what brides wore. They would wear their best gown or kirtle, or even buy a new gown if there was money.

Wedding attire

• The dress would be full length and cover most of the body. They used a cloak as an outer garment.

• The groom would wear his best clothes which were a doublet, breeches, hose, a box pleated neck ruff and a cod piece. A cloak might also be worn and a pair of boots.
