Harrison was a republican from Indiana. He unsuccessfully ran for governor there, but was later elected to senate.

In 1889, Harrison ran for president. He beat his Democratic opponent, Grover Clevland, the 22nd and 24th president. Harrison's Vice President was Levi Moreton.
