Microwaves are have the second longest wave, right after radio waves and has a stronger energy than radio waves but not as much as infrared waves

Microwaves were discovered in 1864 by a physicist and mathematician named James Clerk Maxwell. The waves were used for radar in WWII.

ASTRONOMER USES

Astronomers use microwaves to make chalcopyrite, a semi-conductor, made of copper.

Microwave are studied when looking at sun spots.

HUMAN USES

NASA's Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) uses microwaves to capture data from underneath storm clouds to show rain and it's structure. It was launched in 1997 and it has provided critical precipitation measurements ever since.
