Cytoskeleton: Microtubules and Microfilaments

Cytoskeleton:
A network of protein filaments that helps the cell to maintain its shape. It is also involved in movement.

Microtubules:
Hollow structures made up of proteins called tubulins. They play a large role in cell division where they form spindles, which helps to separate chromosomes.

Microfilaments:
Threadlike structures made up of actin, a type of protein. They produce a tough flexible framework that supports the cell.
