-tumor and lisch nodules in optic pathway, includes:
-blurry objects
-changes in color
-reduced field of vision
-squinting
-unique physical development

Prognosis:

-One in 2,500-4,000 affecting an estimate of 100,000 Americans
-Somewhat rare
-no specific ethnicity or region although found commonly in white races

-Relatively long and healthy lives
-can shorten life expectancy up to 15 years due to complications

-no specific cure
-tumors can usually be removed
-other simple complications treated
-learning disabilities can be treated in a classroom
