Job types and money

In 1917 more than 25 thousand us women had jobs and served in Europe. Some were nurses, provided food and other supples to the military, worked as telephone operators and journalists, transport, in hospitals and in industry and engineering. They were in charge of building ships and doing work such as loading and unloading coal.
The women were able to earn more than they would have done pre-war, but less than a man doing the same job would make.
