I, Sir William Wallace, was born around 1270, near Paisley, Renfrew, Scotland. My father's name was Malcolm Wallace. When I was small, the English were trying to take over Scotland. When I was an adult, I was one of the many who tried to free Scotland from the king, Edward (I) Longshanks.
Today, I am known mainly because of the movie, Braveheart. Yet historically, I left an impact on rallying my men with courage and winning a famous battle, the battle of Sterling Bridge.
I was influenced by King Edward the First. He had control of the land at the time, and it drove me to take back Scotland and let the Scott's rule. I was also influenced by a noble by the name of Sir John Menteith. He influenced me, because I killed him.
While my victory at Sterling was important, perhaps my most lasting legacy was due to the English making me as a martyr in the pursuit of Scottish independence.
Leadership is one my character traits. While I was not the only leader leading the Scottish, I was an important person for the victory at Sterling. Additionally, I was courageous. While I was in London, I still refused to beg for mercy to the King, even though my life was on the line.
