Thigh Injuries:

*located in the thigh is the femur (largest bone)
*the femoral arteries are the major supplier of blood in the lower extremities
*due to size & strength of femur a significant amount of force is required to cause a injury
*if femoral artery is damages the blood loss can be life threatening
*a fracture to the femur can cause a characteristic deformity
*bc thigh muscles are so strong, they pull the ends of the broken bone together, causing them to overlap
*this may cause the injured leg to be shorter then the other
*DO NOT TRY TO SPLINT THE SUSPECTED FEMUR FRACTURE, IT REQUIRES SPECIAL TRAINING
*thigh injuries range from bruises to torn muscles
