Phidias influenced many modern day sculptures and designs.

Pillars were a common design in Ancient Greek architecture and we still use it today. The Greek Parthenon was one of the first buildings to use pillars and it was designed by Phidias, and that is how Phidias influenced the world we live in today.

Phidias was the son of Charmides, and was one of the greatest sculptors around the 5th-4th centuries BC. Phidias supposedly lived around 490-430 BC meaning he was about 60 when he died, which was kind of old for that period in time. He is mostly famous for the statue of Athena in the Greek Parthenon and the statue of Zeus in Olympia. Pericles sent Phidias out to decorate Greece with statues and paintings. Phidias also designed the Greek Parthenon.
