Economy- English settlements went whaling and used the oil/blubber for heating homes and lighting lanterns. Lumber and fish were their biggest industries. Wood hulls for ship building, ships for fishing.

E.S.P- individuals from Massachusetts came to Connecticut for religious freedom and financial opportunities.

Geography-Rocky Soil made farming hard. There were narrow low lands, hilly eastern planes, lumber, rivers, and mountains.
