Chapters 6-10
・Chapter 6: Two main characters are introduced: the love interest, Becky Thatcher, and Tom's friend Huckleberry Finn
・Chapter 7: When Tom and Becky have to stay together in the classroom, they agree to get engaged.
・Chapter 8: Tom decides he wants to be a pirate.
・Chapter 9: While playing near the graveyard, Huckleberry Finn and Tom witness Injun Joe stabbing Dr. Robinson. Injun Joe tells Muff Potter that [Muff Potter] did it, and [Muff Potter] believes him.
・Chapter 10: Tom is filled with misery because Huckleberry and he are terrified of Injun Joe, Aunt Polly is disappointed in Tom, and Becky Thatcher rejects one of his gifts to her.
