February 15, 471

I decided to stay at home today and tend to the small farm on our land. There was a huge trial in the Forum and I did not want to battle the crowd at my stand. We grow artichokes and coriander, and also own a cow. Our one slave, Gus, usually cares for the crops and the cow, then gives me the harvest to sell.
They do not make much profit, but is a small supplement. Also, I have procrastinated my military service for many years, and will soon have to serve for a short time. Right now, I try to enjoy time at home and in the city. I should have served while I was young but fell in love and had to stay in Rome. Now, my death may be imminent because of my age.
