Hematíes maduros de un diámetro entre 8 y 11 mm y un volumen de > 100 fl. Usualmente normocrómicos pero pueden ser hipocrómicos

- Presentes en grandes cantidades en el recién nacido
- Déficit de vitamina B12 y de ácido fólico
- Hepatopatías crónicas.
- Síndromes mielodisplásicos
- Eritroblastosis fetal.
- Pérdida masiva de sangre
- Quimioterapia
