Church
The clergy were the religious people of the Middle Ages. The Roman Catholic Church was one of the most unifying organizations during medieval Europe. The order of rank in the Church was the Pope, Bishops, and Priests.
Pope:
•head of the church
•had a lot of influence over the king
•total control over the clergy.
Bishops:
•accepted in court and lived as the nobles did.
•administrated the needs of priests.
Priests:
•generally the head of the church
•cared for the spiritual life of people.
•They administered sacraments.
•Absolved men and women of their sins through confession.
