James Harrison was the first to invent and patent a mechanical system to create ice for refrigeration

The fridge ration system has impact us today by allowing us to have our food for long periods of time, without it going bad.

Refrigeration provides an area for parishable food to be stored in an area where it wouldn't parish. This was better because people could stor food year long and not lose it or get sick from it.

Harrison's first mechanical ice-making machine began operation in 1851[2] on the banks of the Barwon River at Rocky Point in Geelong.
