Primary succession: the very first stage of a biome becoming what it is, by pioneer species beginning the long process to becoming a full biome with a lot of biodiversity in organisms. An example is when lichen come into the desert and break down rock to form a pioneering species.
Secondary succession: after a natural disaster, whenever a biome begins to return to its natural state of natural tranquility. One example is after a flash flood, which happened recently in the mojave desert.
Climax community: when the community reaches its stage of equilibrium with purity and balance in its ecosystem. An example is basically any desert that hasn't been touched by man.
